I know some of my friends, and likely some of yours too, wanna get all bothered, negative, and fearful by Halloween, but would you take a minute to consider a different angle?
What if instead of promoting FEAR of Halloween, what if we learned a lil about “witch history” and male manipulation?
The witch hunts were not about removing evil worshipping scary women, they were the herbal healers and the midwives and the women who were not compliant to the male dominant politics and religion and medicine.
History tells incredible stories if we look with eyes willing to see without bias. We have been told to fear, we have been told they were evil, we have been told they were scary, but history is written by the victors and the victors were men. Men who kept women silent, owning nothing in their names, no voting or political rights, and no power over their houses. They were men who wanted control of the social culture and the laws and the religion, and they wanted the masses reliant on substances they could sell that you couldn’t grow or learn or produce on your own. They silenced the women, they created medical colleges, and dishonored anything based in nature or nature’s God. 400 years later and the silenced women of that history lost the ability to share their knowledge and to help you heal and have babies without intervention and live in harmony and peace.
As a teen recovering from deep grief and loss, I started saying a phrase: “I am who I am because of where I have been”, and today it is still even more true. I do what I do because of what I have seen, heard, experienced, and learned.
History tells me that if I had been born 400 ish years earlier, they’d have chased me too. Because I believe that herbs and plants and peace and harmony bring health and healing more efficiently and more effectively than controlled chemical based lab created addictive overpriced substances.
I believe that our bodies are designed, intended, able, and want to heal and restore and live abundantly for several decades longer than the average usa lifespan.
I believe that pregnancy and birth are natural events that are easiest and best when a well nourished and actively fit mother can deliver in a peaceful environment where she feels safe and relaxed.
I believe that women are stronger than our patriarchal social culture has given them credit for. I believe that equality is valid and reasonable and that matriarchal societies have also thrived in history and tended to be more peaceful and less prone to division and wars.
I believe that fear of witches is a manipulation that is long overdue to be rebutted and that we restore the use and belief in the natural ways to a title more elevated and more honored than “witch”.
I am a Minister of Healing not an herbal witch.
I think fall festivals are community events to spread kindness and community connection, they are not evil unless you let the fear in!
